The East End-Danforth neighbourhood (also known as the Upper Beaches) is located south of the railroad tracks, east of Coxwell Avenue, north of Queen Street East and Kingston Road, and west of Victoria Park Avenue.
This neighbourhood has a small town feel thanks to the tree-lined streets, well-manicured lawns, Victorian, Gothic, and Edwardian-style homes, and of course, the proximity to Toronto’s beaches. There are many shops and restaurants (lots of them have patios, which adds a European ambiance during the summer). Patios are also a common fixture in East End-Danforth homes, so it’s not uncommon to see neighbours enjoying a drink on summer days (or on summer evenings).
The East End-Danforth has attracted many families in recent years, but there’s still a good demographic mix of young singles, couples, and seniors in the neighbourhood. Furthermore, this community is ethnically diverse – you’ll hear languages from all over the world within just a few blocks. And diversity abounds in adjacent neighbourhoods. You’re very close to the Greek area of the Danforth, home to the annual Taste of the Danforth that celebrates Greek culture in Toronto, as well as Little India, where South Asian shops and restaurants make you feel as though you’re on the Subcontinent.
While there are a large number of single family, semi-detached homes as well as attached homes in this neighbourhood, there are also many condo units available for purchase in the East End-Danforth.
